Collect tools to help create livelihoods

The Tool Collector's role is to respond to requests from members of the public to collect tools they have to donate and to store them for the TWAM van to collect. There is considerable flexibility in this role time wise as collections can be made at any time which is agreed between you and the donor. If you prefer not to or don’t drive then you can also be a drop off point when people bring the tools to you Typical tasks may include Taking calls and emails from members of the public and arranging collection times driving to collect tools from people and bringing them back to your storage area arranging collections from the TWAM vans. We provide an induction to the role which may be either over the phone, electronically or in person and a volunteer handbook on starting. You will have a named contact within TWAM for any questions or problems and further training can be provided as required. You will also be given a TWAM Polo Shirt and fleece to wear and an ID card if required.

Help us run activities for people with dementia

Support people with dementia in our activity sessions at BUDS. Support them to do various activities, make cups of tea, give encouragement at mealtimes. The activity sessions run on weekdays between 10.30am and 1.30pm.

Befriend people with dementia and their carers via telephone calls or home visits to help ease loneliness and isolation. The telephone befriending service is run from our BUDS office in Oldbury and the befriending visits will be carried out in people’s homes.

Help run our Food Pantry Service

As an assistant at Your Local Pantry Brasshouse you’ll be involved with general running and maintaining the shop's standards. The pantry assistants will have an important role offering the customer a face to face personal shopping experience. Amongst other things you'll assist with correctly and safely storing goods; ensure the Pantry is kept well stocked and help promote the Pantry.

Help us save lives with prevention activities

Help West Midlands Fire Service deliver prevention-based activities to members of the public and vulnerable groups. Educate the community on key safety messages linked to fire, road, home, and personal safety through a variety of activities. Key activities will be: • Acting as a “Safety Adviser” to delivery key safety messages to young people aged 9-11 around Safeside; a state-of-the-art scenario-based, experiential learning safety complex which provides an innovative, enjoyable learning experience that inspires people to think and act safely. • Delivering safety presentations to vulnerable groups, such as new arrivals to the country or those who have English as a second language. • Assisting Fire Stations with open days, community events and local Fire Safety initiatives to promote safety and wellbeing. • Acting as a Volunteer Fire Safety Tutor to educate young people who have shown an unhealthy interest in fire.

Help people living with diabetes to move more
