Then join our team of Community Advocates and together we will build confident, more health resilient communities. As a Community Advocate with St John Ambulance you will help to raise the profile of first aid within your local community by helping us raise awareness of the first aid message, through the delivery of short first aid awareness sessions. You will be a motivated individual who already has community connections in your local area and is confident talking about first aid to groups of people. You will be organised and have the ability to plan your own sessions, with availability to suit the community group and yourself. In this role, you would ideally be volunteering for at least two sessions per month (a total of 4 hours), plus travel time.

Support young people to gain confidence, leadership and teamwork skills

Are you passionate about helping young people develop their confidence, leadership and teamwork skills? Are you interested in working with young people in your local community? Would you like to support young people to become active health citizens by helping to deliver an engaging, fun and informative youth programme? Youth Team Volunteers work with young people from a wide breadth of backgrounds, ensuring they really feel part of the St John family. Volunteers will help young people develop their confidence, teamwork skills, self-discipline, and generally encourage them to strive to be the best they can be. In this role, you will support the delivery of games, activities and training sessions during Unit meetings for young people aged either 5-10 years (St John Badgers) or 10-17 years (St John Cadets). As you gain more experience, you can be involved in planning and delivering sessions as part of our youth programme, and taking on additional responsibilities such as encouraging and organising for young people to go on events. The expected commitment is around 2 hours per week, every 1-4 weeks during school term time.
