We are looking for a volunteer with business, HR and finance experience. Fantastic Journeys is a growing social enterprise. We are accessing larger grants and winning contracts with statutory organisations. We have identified a need for more support to manage our finances and organisational structure. This support might include advice about: • finance accounting packages • fulltime vs freelance contracts • costs related to fulltime employees • writing and managing a business plan We would like a volunteer to join us to advise us in these areas. They could join us in an official capacity as a voluntary director. Or they could join us as a co-opted advisory member of the board of directors. Our hope would be that they could offer us 2-3 hours a month.

If you are committed, enthusiastic and want to make a difference, apply to be a governor at a school in Sandwell. School governors are volunteers from all backgrounds and walks of life. They often meet monthly (usually outside of school hours) to monitor how a school is using its resources and meeting its objectives to provide a good education for pupils. We want you to be part of that check and challenge process and to bring your views and opinions. Being a governor can give you lots of skills too. You’ll build networks and gain valuable experience in areas such as planning, working with budgets, problem solving and using data. It’s a voluntary role, but it’s a brilliant way to give back to your community and will look great on your CV if you’re looking for work. Pre-agreed expenses are reimbursed. So, go for it – do something brilliant and help to ensure all children receive the education they deserve! Interested? Options for Life is a dynamic not-for-profit charity dedicated to empowering adults with learning disabilities and/or autism to boost their confidence, develop valuable skills, and live independently, enjoying the same rights, opportunities and choice as everyone else. We want to support more people with profound or multiple learning disabilities, and develop new services to provide supported employment opportunities. But to do this we need professionals who can guide and develop the charity’s strategy as Trustees. Many of our current Trustees will complete their terms this year. We particularly value financial and public administration skills and people with lived experience of disability. We believe in the strength of a varied board and welcome applicants from all walks of life, regardless of their previous Trustee experience. Our Trustees are central to our success, and we need Trustees who share our desire to overcome years of prejudice. The financial situation is challenging, but the rewards are enormous. Pre-agreed expenses such as travel costs will be reimbursed.
