This role is an opportunity to join the Board of Directors of Lumino Life CIC and play a strategic role in supporting the organisation’s governance, sustainability and community impact.
Volunteer Directors are responsible for helping to set the organisation’s strategic direction, ensuring strong governance and oversight and supporting the organisation to operate in line with its community purpose and CIC regulations. The role is non-executive and focuses on oversight rather than day-to-day delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Contributing to board meetings (1 per quarter)
- Supporting good governance, compliance and risk management
- Acting in the best interests of the organisation and its beneficiaries
This role is suitable for individuals with experience in areas such as governance, finance, education, community development, safeguarding, business, HR or strategic leadership. Previous board experience is welcome but not essential.
The company exists to benefit children, young people and adults by providing accessible, inclusive and high quality enrichment, life skills and personal development opportunities that support positive life outcomes and stronger communities.
The company’s activities will focus on delivering creative arts, STEM, digital skills, life skills, employability support and personal development programmes. Delivery will take place through school and education partnerships, community based programmes and adult support initiatives. Activities are designed to meet the needs of individuals at different life stages, including children and young people aged 5-16 and adults seeking support with skills development, employability or life transitions. The company will work to reduce barriers to participation by designing inclusive programmes and undertaking targeted outreach, particularly for individuals and communities experiencing disadvantage, exclusion or limited access to opportunities.
The company will operate for community benefit rather than private profit. Any surplus generated will be reinvested into expanding access to services, improving programme quality, subsidising places for those who would otherwise be unable to participate, developing new community partnerships and strengthening the long-term sustainability of the company’s community activities.
