Support armed forces carers

Help carers develop friendships, interests and engage more with their communities. As a Support Group Facilitator you would be: • Preparing and delivering support groups for carers in the Armed Forces community, including providing a programme of face to face and virtual themed activities, and events. • Helping to set up the venue, provide refreshments, assist with cleaning and washing up and leave the venue as found (note that current venues are at the National Memorial Museum in Staffs, and RAF Cosford, but are also delivered online) • Interacting with attendees, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported in an inclusive atmosphere. • Developing interests and skills with the support group attendees. • Assisting the Project Officer to gather feedback from the group to demonstrate the impact of the service. • Identify any additional support needs from attendees, passing details to RBL Area Teams with agreement.

Like figuring out how electrical items work?

Are you good with electricals? A bit of a sparky in your spare time? If you like figuring out how electrical items work and want to do your bit to help the environment, this could be the role for you. You’ll be plugging in and testing the electrical items generously donated to us, making sure they are fully functional and ready for sale – everything from record players to washing machines, TVs to toasters – they all need a quick test! Funding for researchers begins at your local charity shop. Now, more than ever, we are in urgent need of public support to enable us to continue our life saving research and help the 7.4 million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory diseases. This wouldn’t be possible without our fantastic volunteers. Our team is welcoming and friendly, and we love meeting people from all walks of life. Typical tasks include: • Plugging items in, turning them on and making sure all the functions work correctly • Giving items a quick clean so they’re ready for sale • Some light lifting of electrical items and help is on hand for the heavier items • Identifying poor quality donations for recycling • Identifying unusual or interesting items for online selling or auction

Note this is a customer facing role based on our sales floor, so you may be dealing with customer enquiries face-to-face as well as by telephone. Be our warehouse warrior!

Are you someone who would like to stay in shape, help save the planet and raise funds to save lives? Volunteering in our local furniture store warehouse could be the answer. We need warehouse warrior volunteers to keep our stock moving from the van to the warehouse and shop floor, and back to the van for delivery when items are sold. This role can be physical but it’s not just moving furniture around. There are other opportunities to help in our warehouse, such as warehouse logistics, booking stock in, building our flat-packed furniture, and testing electrical items – you can try different roles. Funding for researchers begins at your local charity shop. British Heart Foundation shops also save 71,000 tonnes of items form going to waste each year. Our team is welcoming and friendly, and we love meeting people from all walks of life. Typical tasks include: · Ensuring the warehouse is always kept in a clean, safe and organised state · Safely lifting and carrying a range of furniture items, big or small – it all helps! · Dealing with van deliveries to the shop and preparing deliveries for customers · Building flat-pack furniture for display purposes, carrying out light furniture repairs if confident alongside Warehouse Supervisor · Re-stocking furniture on the shop floor as items are sold You get a lot from volunteering too: · A chance to work in a friendly team, to make new friends and meet a diverse group of people ·Keep active in this hands-on role · Develop your confidence and interpersonal skills · Gain valuable work experience to add onto your CV and learn new skills
