Could you be a School Governor?

by Governors for Schools

Governors for Schools finds, places, and supports skilled volunteers as governors and trustees on school and academy boards across Sandwell. School governors have a varied and important role helping the school run effectively. They have 3 core functions: Planning the strategic direction of the school Overseeing financial performance of the school and ensuring money is well spent Holding the headteacher or school leadership to account The governor role is strategic rather than operational. Governors don’t get involved with the day to day running of a school, instead supporting and challenging the school’s leadership team to drive school improvement. Governors usually attend around 6 meetings a year. Being a school governor is a responsibility, but offers you the chance to see first-hand the impact you can make in improving education for children in your community.

Let your hair down with DiscoInclusive!

by DiscoInclusive

DiscoInclusive would love you to come and hang out with us on the last Wednesday evening of every month. Many Sandwell youngsters enjoy the freedom of these discos, and sometimes need a hand to get out on the floor and boogie. Our elder founder, who has complete sight loss, could also do with a sighted guide to make the most of the evening. Take a look at our Facebook page to see the fun we have.

Help bring the local community together, whilst keeping fit.

by Friends of Red House Park

Red House Park is a lovely park with some great features, including the Grade II listed building, lakes, woodlands, and the Princess Charlotte memorial. Currently we don’t have a walking group in the park, which is a real shame, one that would benefit the local community, by keeping them active and help reduce isolation. Join us to help form and lead a walking group.
