Help steer our work as a Board member

by Spectra Arts CIC

Spectra seeks Board members to ensure we stay true to our mission and values. From garden installations to interactive performances, our work seeks to create new spaces with people rather than finding ways to include them in exclusive systems. With nature as our constant collaborator, co-creation is our foundation: we use it to dream up new possibilities, disrupt ill structures and manifest the changes we seek. Founded in 2013, Spectra has performed to over 12,000 people and run 525 co-creation sessions. Our work is supported and enhanced by long-term partnerships with creative and community organisations. You might be completely new to governance or have years of experience and want a new challenge. Either way we would like to hear from you. At Spectra we like to lead with care and meeting people where they are at. If you are interested in joining our board please could you provide an Expression of interest that answers the following questions: ● Question 1: What experience do you have in relation to this organisation and role? ● Question 2: What has interested you in the role? You are welcome to write your answers, record a voice note or video, or send your thoughts to us in whatever way is most accessible to you. We will review all expressions of interest and follow up with an in person or online conversation with a member of the Team and a current board member. We will reimburse approved expenses related to volunteering. We look forward to hearing from you!

BrightBites need volunteers to go along to their local nurseries, schools, childcare settings & organisations that work with young children and their families, to deliver fun, interactive sessions on mouth health. We would really like to target areas where the oral health needs of children are greater, so we are relying on volunteers’ local knowledge to target these areas. We provide a range of resources to support the volunteers for the session, which includes a toothbrush and tube of toothpaste for every child seen. Thanks to a grant from the Sandwell Council Better Mental Health Strategy Grant Scheme, we are able to offer our participants therapeutic sessions focusing on coping strategies, stress management techniques and mindfulness practices. We are seeking volunteers to help participants engage in the sessions by setting up, explaining any prompts from the trainer and taking feedback at the end. These sessions will equip participants with practical tools to navigate daily challenges, reduce anxiety, and enhance emotional resilience. Additionally, art therapy and expressive activities within drama sessions will provide creative outlets for individuals to process their emotions, fostering self-expression and a sense of emotional release. Through these workshops, participants will gain valuable skills to manage their mental wellbeing effectively. We will reimburse pre-agreed expenses.
