Help us minimise food poverty in the local area

We're looking for helpers to:
● Set up the social supermarket before opening.
● Receive, sort and organise food deliveries and donations.
● Check stock and ensure products are displayed safely and neatly.
● Prepare Community Red grocery bags and customer orders.
● Welcome customers and explain how the social supermarket works.
● Assist customers while maintaining their dignity, privacy and respect.
● Process bookings/check customer collections where required.
● Help manage queues during busy periods.
● Monitor stock levels and highlight items that need replenishing.
● Check food dates and follow appropriate food safety procedures.
● Keep shelves, tables, storage areas and the supermarket space clean and organised.
● Help record basic information such as customer numbers, stock distributed and remaining stock.
● Support other volunteers working during supermarket sessions.
● Signpost customers to Community Red's other services where appropriate.
● Help create a friendly, calm and inclusive atmosphere.
● Assist with closing, cleaning and storing remaining stock at the end of the session.
