Building Bridges are looking for an experienced and proactive admin and project support volunteer to join our friendly team and support our work with people with a learning disability.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll help keep things running smoothly behind the scenes while also supporting our training and co-production work.
What you’ll be doing:
• Managing requests that come through our website and sharing our online resources with people with a learning disability and support services
• Helping people with a learning disability produce easy read resources by checking text, adding images, and making sure information is clear and accessible
• Carrying out desk-based research to help the team find useful services, resources, or information
• Supporting training events – helping with set up, welcoming attendees, and making sure everyone feels comfortable
• Assisting with general administration such as updating records and sending invoices
• Providing practical support to our small team on a range of project activities
You’ll be part of a supportive team and play an important role in helping make information and opportunities more accessible for people with learning disabilities.
If you like the idea of a hands-on role where no two weeks are quite the same, we’d love to hear from you!
Pre-agreed travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Building Bridges is an independent social enterprise which makes a difference to the lives of people with a learning disability through training, research and resources by enabling them to be included and have full and valued roles in their local community. We do this through the following activities;
1. Inclusive research with people with a learning disability to understand the issues that affect the lives of people with a learning disability. We have undertaken research projects on topics such as living independently, the election and politics and claiming PIP
2. Training the staff who work with people with a learning disability such as giving good support to parents with a learning disability, making easy read information.
3. Producing resources; these include good practice guidelines for staff, on how to produce easy read information and easy read resources for people with a learning disability such as a keep safe check list, budgeting money and a banking dictionary.
