Join a friendly team that welcomes visitors to our reserve

by RSPB

We are looking for volunteers who can help with all our visitor engagement activities, from welcoming people on arrival, to leading events and activities. Our events and activities are aimed at all age ranges from toddlers to families, new to nature and those who are already nature lovers.
Full training and support will be provided for this role, but you do need to be a ‘people person’ and have good communication skills.
This is a rewarding and enjoyable role. You will be working with a friendly team on a beautiful nature reserve, you will have the opportunity to make new friends and spend time outdoors. You will get to meet loads of new people in this role, enjoying conversation and helping people have a wonderful visit.
There is always the opportunity to learn new things and gain skills through volunteering, by working on a reserve, you'll naturally learn all about how nature reserves are managed and the wildlife that is found there.
Pre-agreed expenses will be reimbursed.

Organisation description

The RSPB is a nature conservation charity that advocates for birds and wildlife, addressing the problems that threaten our environment. We focus on four key areas:
- We protect the special habitats that wildlife needs to survive and restore them where they have been lost. To achieve this, we protect and manage over 200 nature reserves across the UK, including Middleton Lakes & Sandwell Valley in the West Midlands.
- We work to restore lost and threatened species by understanding their needs for thriving and creating spaces for them to flourish, for example by advocating for Swift-friendly buildings in the West Midlands
- We connect people with nature by creating opportunities for individuals to experience wildlife first hand through public events, educational and training programmes, and volunteer opportunities at our nature reserves.
- We aim to save the environment by working to mitigate the impacts of climate change and helping wildlife adapt. We campaign on a range of issues to influence decision-makers and ensure that nature’s voice is heard.
