Our Community Allotment Plot is a vibrant, inclusive space where people from all walks of life -across different ages, abilities, and cultures - come together. It offers a unique opportunity to connect with others, learn new skills, and enjoy the many benefits of gardening and being outdoors.

Volunteering at the Community Allotment Plot is fun, rewarding, and a fantastic way to stay active and healthy. We’d love you to be part of our growing team!

Tasks will be tailored to physical abilities taking note of any health considerations.

Activities could include sowing, weeding, digging, pruning, harvesting, painting, fence building and general maintenance tasks.
Pre-agreed expenses will be reimbursed.

The Dorothy Parkes Centre is a vibrant community centre based in Smethwick which hosts a number of projects as well as hiring hall space to external agencies to lead various sessions.

Experience gained

We have an induction process, during which we give volunteers the information we believe they need to enjoy their time with us. The Projects Manager and Allotment Plot Lead will give volunteers any specific information they need before starting. Volunteers will have supervisions to allow them to give and receive feedback about their work. They are also encouraged to bring up any concerns or questions as soon as they arise and make an input into the overall development of our Allotment Project.
