We are seeking volunteers to support older people to take a walk outside and meet others.
Age UK Sandwell offers various activities throughout the borough to combat loneliness and isolation. This includes walking groups and we currently seek dependable volunteers to support these activities. Attendees often have walking aids or adaptations so you will be aiding older individuals in Sandwell to enrich their later years. Travel expenses are covered.
Activity group volunteers lead weekly sessions for older participants, undertaking induction and additional training as necessary. Responsibilities include:
• preparing resources
• promoting the group
• leading sessions
• maintaining attendance records
• reporting concerns
• attending meetings as required.
An average ‘ask’ is three hours a week.

Organisation description

Age UK Sandwell offers a wide range of services aimed at improving the quality of life for over 50s in our community. These include providing companionship; offering advice and information on various issues such as health, finances, and social care; campaigning for the rights and interests of older people, and running programmes to tackle loneliness and isolation among the elderly population.
