We are looking for volunteer directors with previous experience in one or more key areas: community engagement, dance, and/or business development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for, and experience within, a creative setting and based in the West Midlands region. The role and aims of the Board of Directors are to ensure that the resources of Unique Movez Dance Collective CIC are well managed and applied in the best manner possible to achieve the vision, mission and values.

Organisation description

Unique Movez Dance Collective CIC is a community dance company based in the Black Country, dedicated to offering accessible pathways for people to engage in dance and ensure the sustainability of creative activities. Focused on community engagement and social well-being, Unique Movez celebrates cultural diversity and personal development, through dance, to bring joy and connection to daily life. The aim is to enhance social interaction and confidence for those under 25, as well as promote wellness and new skills for adults and families in the region. Founded in 2018 by Tamar Dixon with support from the Prince's Trust.

Essential
● An offer to stay with us a minimum of a year, with the opportunity to extend
● Experience in social enterprises and/or business development
● An understanding of business development, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), Accountancy, Funding and Fundraising
Desirable
● Passion for Art and Culture - dance, theatre, literature, poetry, music, storytelling, painting/art
● Cultural exchange and an appreciation for diversity and heritage
● Understanding of mental health and wellbeing,
social isolation, social disadvantage, anxiety, depression, loneliness

Experience gained

Board members can gain skills in leadership, strategic planning, financial management, governance, and team collaboration. They may also develop expertise in community engagement and dance programming. Additionally, serving on the board provides opportunities for networking, insight into the dance/performing arts sector and professional growth.
