Support our Baby Bundles project

by New Beginnings Community

New Beginnings Baby Bundles provides much needed essentials and equipment to mothers and families who are unable to provide these items for themselves; including but not limited to teenage moms, people seeking asylum and women fleeing domestic abuse and trafficking. Many of the women we give to are unable to speak English and are often too afraid to leave their homes. Items are requested via midwives, health visitors and other agency workers and taken out to the families by the person who has made the referral.
Key duties of volunteers include:
• Strip donated baskets, clean with antibacterial wipes. Put back together with new mattress. Wrap in plastic bag to keep dust free.
• Washing, dying and ironing of baby items
• Regular collection of donations from donation points
• Empty donation bin, sort items to be washed, place other items in storage boxes
• Making up of Newborn Bundles Moses Baskets
• Making up of urgent baskets as requested
• Helping with fundraising events

Organisation description

New Beginnings Community builds on experience in our local community of Sandwell and surrounding area. Our desire is to work with people to seek ways to enhance and build cohesion, and to support and empower those who are marginalised at the edges of our community. Using Asset Based Community Development, we facilitate and develop projects which allow people to come together to establish supportive and encouraging friendships and partnerships. We believe that a community flourishes best when we are a movement working together, and that everyone benefits when we welcome, embrace, include, and give dignity to, the diversity of thoughts, ideas and ways of working that people from different backgrounds, experiences and identities bring.
