This opportunity with Crossroads Caring for Carers is to provide companionship and conversation to unpaid carers at a regular, two-hour Carer Support Group.
The aim of the support group is to provide carers with a place to socialise, develop friendships and reintegrate back into the community, whilst gaining the support needed to help them in their caring role.
Your voluntary role will include;
• helping to set up the venue.
• greeting and seating people.
• helping with refreshments.
• interacting with attendees - taking part in group discussions and one to one conversations.
• providing a listening ear.
• ensuring that attendees feel welcome in an inclusive space.
• Identifying those who require additional, professional support and referring to Crossroads staff.
• Helping to tidy up at the end.
Agreed expenses reimbursed.
Crossroads Caring for Carers provides a wide range of community care services across Sandwell and the Black Country.
We offer personalised and flexible care at home to support people with daily living needs. We also offer a range of tailored support services for unpaid carers (family carers) to help them care for longer by providing practical support and respite, improving the health and wellbeing of carers and those they care for.

We are looking for people who are friendly, chatty, a good listener, as well as being understanding and empathetic towards family carers and how their situation impacts on their wellbeing.
As well as skills such as working as part of a team, communication and listening, Crossroads provides relevant in-house training to volunteers including: first aid and health & safety.
