Support Group Facilitator

The role of Kaleidoscope's Self Harm Group Facilitator volunteer is to provide a proactive and
timely community-based monthly meeting to help individuals, families, groups, or communities who have experienced self-harm. Signposting, overseeing, and maintaining links to relevant organisations, groups, and services for counselling. Offer and provide a sensitive, compassionate, and needs-led service to individuals, families, groups, or communities affected by self-harm.

Organisation description

At The Kaleidoscope Plus Group, our goal is to champion mental health and wellbeing, driving real change and providing crucial mental health support services to the community, wherever they are needed.
Established in 1973 in Sandwell, we have almost five decades of experience in providing mental health support to thousands of people across the UK. Our dedicated staff are constantly striving to support those who need our help with a range of mental health services.

Preferred skills

Empathy and effective, compassionate communication skills are vital, good communicator, organised, methodical, reliable. The ability to work on your own initiative and group work, an awareness and understanding of self-harm. Good inter-personal skills to lead a group, encourage and sustain discussion.

Experience gained

You’ll meet with your Suicide and Self-harm Prevention Coordinator and the Volunteer Coordinator and receive an induction and training relevant to the sessions you participate in before you start your role. You’ll also be kept updated with other volunteering opportunities through the monthly volunteer bulletin.
