Age UK Sandwell’s Stepping Into Digital (SID) service is here to provide the first step into using the internet, and computing devices such as laptops and tablets. Digital Champion volunteers will be responsible for providing weekly IT support and guidance to older people in Sandwell who are going online for the first time or who have very little experience of using the internet/ IT equipment.
Digital exclusion is becoming an issue for many older people as increasingly the best offers and certain services and programmes are only available online. We aim to help overcome loneliness and isolation by helping older people access email, chat systems etc and link to important web sites such as UK Government and local authority.
Age UK Sandwell offers a wide range of services aimed at improving the quality of life for over 50s in our community. These include providing companionship; offering advice and information on various issues such as health, finances, and social care; campaigning for the rights and interests of older people, and running programmes to tackle loneliness and isolation among the elderly population.
